Thank YOU, Sir!
Let me do some boasting. I am 33 years old. I have 10 years as a teacher and a few years as a radio reporter, a news writer, a researcher, a voice-over talent, a trainor, an administrator, a technical support agent, and a tourism operation officer to my credit. Of these jobs, it is the distinct role of a teacher to teach students that I love the most. To this day, I have several graduates who have become successful in their chosen careers. My students have become engineers, doctors (coming soon), nurses, accountants, politicians, and most especially TEACHERS.
It is the goodness of God that made it possible.
It is through the greatness of God that I have touched the lives of my students and they have been at the best of what they are.
A few days ago, I was asked, “What was your biggest joy in your 10 years as TEACHER?” And I said without hesitation, “It is the joy of producing tomorrow’s leaders, today”. It is the joy of being part of their academic life, part of their daily tasks and being a second parent to them. It is almost mind blowing. I, the teacher being reciprocated with congratulatory remarks, gifts in several forms and a warmed handshake and embrace from these students – who are now part of the workforce of the Philippine’s public and private sectors. My joy is to see them return their gratitude to their parents. My joy is to see them driving their own cars. My joy is to know that I am invited on some occasions, simply thanking me for being part of their lives, for having inspired them for what they have become, and reckoning those never-ending high school years with much joy and laughter.
What was my greatest difficulty? It is to see my students suffer. Their agony of unwanted pregnancy, having an early married life, not finishing their studies because of poverty and life’s problems. It pains me. It hurts me. It gives me a quiet time asking myself, What is lacking in me as their teacher that made their lives miserable?. How do I respond to their darkest hours? Why do they have to experience pain and suffering this early?. It was also in my first few years as a teacher when I was bombarded with questions from parents, asking help and counseling about their sons and daughters — all these have caused me to strive more to become a good teacher, a good example and a good listener.
What then is my dream in the years to come? I dream that all my students will graduate with flying colors and have a stable job. Teaching is one big charity effort. Even while everyone’s struggling for comfort, I have yet afforded to wiggle while in struggle. Teaching has both surprised and fascinated my nerve for delivering content to whoever is able and interested. I can gladly say, as I travel on this life, somehow, someday, I have touched people’s lives, made them smile, made a big impact in their decisions, and most specially have become part of their lives…All these are just enough to be thankful because I’ve been there and I’ve done things for them. Now, my career is on a crossroad. I have come to terms that an additional fold of one’s age especially when it’s crippling towards the tail end of the calendar, MUST ALWAYS be a bell ringing on my time line, for personal maturity and professional growth. So where am I now? Rightfully on the space provided for me by the Providence, very still and calm patiently waiting for some fortuitous fruits of labor. Hence, I will continue to sow harder for life… not for my sole happiness but for infinite contentment and constant reflection.

what can 10 years compare to a few months? yet, i can now really say that teaching is priceless.
you don’t mind if you’re underpaid but you do care on how you will do your job on molding children.
and grabe lang talaga sir, nakakabata tong trabahong to!
thank you sir for letting me read this. i know im just starting in the field but i also have hopes that someday i could see my students going back and saying thank you to me in any way.

i`m having a really hard time with college application essays cause the teaching in school sucks like shit. HAHA, kidding.
… teaching is really a noble profession.. the reason behind successful individuals in their own chosen field is when they came across competent and effective teachers!… i believe, a teacher is really someone who takes your hand.. opens your mind.. and touches your heart!..
Yabang!
NICE! Nakakainspire po.
The world is a better place with people like you, sir Dodie, people who are truly dedicated to their chosen paths and never seem to stop dreaming
i think everyone must learn from your values. passion + care + moral integrity= respect to you sir!
Ideal teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross, then having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own.I haven’t been given the chance to experience having you as my teacher but I know that you certainly are an IDEAL TEACHER!
wow
It’s very inspiring sir dodie!Thank you sir!marami rin ako natutunan sayo. Keep on reaching your goal.God bless.

I agree 100%. I have high regards for teachers like you. In my 14 yrs of schooling, I can only recall 1 teacher who made a difference in me. She believed in me more than I believe in myself, she pushed me to soar higher until I realized..I can do it!
I honor those teachers who are not only committed to “teaching” but also to “touching” the lives of their students. CHEERS to all of you!
Your passion for teaching is very inspiring, Sir. There aren’t so many teachers like you today who are very passionate with what they do. Students don’t only need to be taught but they also need to be inspired, encouraged, motivated and especially to be cared for. And I’m pretty sure that’s what you’ve been doing.
Keep doing what you do best, Sir. God bless you.
ayos sir. lalim pero madating! lakas impact. lupet
Sir Dods! You’re one of the greatest teacher in my life! Being a teacher is something that many people choose because of their love of children. Thank you for letting me feel the love of a second parent in my second home! You played as a helping hand in (my) OUR development…you never failed as a mentor, you are simply the best! God Bless.
Teaching really is a vocation rather than a profession. If all teachers will have a big heart to devote their time and skills in shaping the lives of our youth, then I believe that in time our country will find its rightful place.:D
It is rare to know someone who’s really dedicated to his/her job and still finds time to reflect on his/her teaching. You have a very wide understanding on why you’re doing your job. You did not only taught us what’s written in your lesson plans but you’ve taught us even more than that. No doubt na marami rin sa mga studyante ang kaibigan niyo hanggang ngayon. You get to establish a relationship na hindi lang pang-classroom.
Hope to meet more teachers like you!
Thank you Sir! God bless you always..
Dear Teacher DodingDaga,
I really appreciate your dedication on your chosen profession. Naisip ko tuloy, “Paano na ang mundo kung wala ang mga teachers?”. Malamang absent!
It’s always nice to know that nowadays, there are still teachers who really use the best of their ability to teach and sincerely contribute to the success of their students. They are still striving hard to perform their duties and responsibilities to the society despite the reality that most of them are neglected in terms of financial compensation and support for professional advancement.
Saludo ako sa iyo sir! Pagpalain ka pa sana ng husto sa mga mabubuting gawain mo.
Ang inyong Dagahanga,
Bubwit
